Tea at the Blackpool Tower
On Saturday June 22nd, 13 of our members travelled together to Blackpool to take in the sea air (you could see the sea!) and to go to the Afternoon Tea and Dance in the famous Tower Ballroom.
The Ballroom, which was recently renovated, has a fabulous décor completed in art nouveau style . Many couples, clearly regulars, were up for every dance. The music was provided via the mighty Wurlitzer organ (like you may recall from cinemas in the past).
The afternoon tea was surprisingly good and great value.
Afterwards some of us braved a trip to the top of the Tower, to find that much of the platform is now encased in glass giving a breath-taking view of the town and the Fylde coast.
