Meols and the u3a
As a member of the national u3a our emphasis is on learning, sharing knowledge, making new friends and socialising. A key element is having fun together,
With members from the whole Southport area and beyond we are part of the North West region u3a group.
Run by a Committee elected by our members we achieve our aims through
- study and interest groups
- a variety of organised events and activities open to all members
- open monthly meetings
Where and when you can find us
At Christ Church on Lord Street. 10.15 on the third Friday of each month.
This is an open meeting and the hub of our organisation so why not come along. You will be warmly welcomed and given help to decide if you would like to join us. We charge a small fee of £1 for visitors which is refunded if you decide to join.
With little formality these regular meetings offer you the following opportunities
- find out about activities and interest groups
- learn of new events being organised
- chat with group leaders or committee members
- hear a talk by an invited speaker
- socialise with other members and enjoy a tea or coffee
- easy to pay for membership if you wish to join

Our study and interest groups
These groups are at the heart of any u3a and are free for all members to join, although some groups do charge a small fee to cover room hire, refreshments and other incidentals.
We have a number of groups covering a variety of areas of interest, some educational, some social, many a combination of both. They range from Art Appreciation to Wine and Food Tasting and lots in between. A small selection is shown here for you to scroll through and get a taste of what's on offer.
Several of our groups arrange outings and social events open to everyone, including coach trips and short breaks away.
Run by members for members these groups meet at various appropriate venues including members' homes, each group deciding when, where and how often to meet. Every group has a leader to organise meetings or events and keep group members informed.
