White Star Liverpool

On June 19 a group of Lets Go members took the train into Liverpool to go to one of the city’s historic pubs, the White Star . Apart from its history with The Beatles , it is associated with the White Star line, which among other things, owned the Titanic.
Paul gave a talk about White Star, but much of our time was taken with the Wednesday afternoon sing along of sea shanties and folk songs.

Then we were treated to a performance by Alexander Smith, a piper with the Liverpool Irish pipes and drums (103 Regiment Royal Artillery).
Alexander recreated the famous piper on the beach on the Sword and Pegasus beaches during the recent 80th anniversary of the Allied landings on D Day.

We then took the short walk to the renowned Casa Italia on Stanley Street for pasta, pizza and our choice of refreshments before our journey home.
