Floating Grace

A fabulous afternoon was enjoyed aboard the Floating Grace, combining excellent food, great company and a fascinating glimpse into Liverpool’s maritime past. After setting off from Salthouse Quay, we sailed through the Royal Albert Dock and continued south towards Brunswick, enjoying wonderful views of Liverpool’s famous waterfront from a completely different perspective.

As we enjoyed an excellent two-course lunch, the onboard commentary brought the history of the docks to life. From the 18th-century Salthouse Dock to the great working waterfront stretching south towards Brunswick, we were reminded of the ships, warehouses and cargoes that once connected Liverpool with ports around the world.

Once lunch and the commentary were over, the music started — and it wasn’t long before people were on their feet! There was plenty of dancing, laughter and a wonderfully lively atmosphere on board. As the photographs show, it was a brilliant afternoon of food, views, history and, most importantly, great company. The verdict at the end was unanimous: “When can we do it again?”
