Our walk in June was led by group leader Bill and involved catching the train to Hooton. We left the station to walk along the disused railway track to Neston. The original line was built in 1866 and extended to West Kirby before it finally closed in 1962
The highlight of the walk was Hadlow Road Station - a Grade II listed heritage railway station, now a free museum and café situated on the Wirral Way footpath. It looks the same as in 1956 when the station was closed to passengers.
The 5 mile walk took us through cuttings of the lovely red sandstone rocks, typical of the area. Just one area where we got wet feet!
We were a cheery but weary bunch waiting for the bus to return home after a lovely day.
