On Sunday 11 October, twelve of us headed into Liverpool to join Reel Tours for a fascinating walking tour exploring the city's connections with the film industry. Over the years, Liverpool has provided the backdrop for a surprising number of films, and our guide introduced us to some of the locations and buildings that have appeared on the big screen.
The walk lasted around two and a half hours and was packed with interesting information. Some of the films were rather unfamiliar to many of us, particularly the modern action and superhero films featuring characters such as Batman and Iron Man. Not necessarily films we'll all be rushing home to watch, but interesting nevertheless!
What made the outing particularly enjoyable was the opportunity to see Liverpool from a different perspective. Even familiar streets and buildings took on a new interest as we discovered how they had been used by the film industry.
